John Augustine ​

Professor​

John Augustine is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras. His current research primarily addresses trust issues in various distributed settings. His expertise is in randomized algorithms and distributed computing with focus on dynamic networks, mobile agents, distributed machine learning, and distributed trust. Going beyond theory, he is also interested in the applications of distributed trust especially in blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. He is a founding member of the Cryptography, Cybersecurity, and Distributed Trust group, which has now evolved into CyStar. He is also affiliated with the Distributed Trust and Algorithms lab as well as the Theoretical Computer Science group.
Professor John Augustine is a founding member of two prominent research groups at IIT Madras: the Cryptography, Cybersecurity, and Distributed Trust group, and the Blockchain Innovation Centre. He is also affiliated with the Theoretical Computer Science group.
